Fantastic success during the joint Outreach event in the small neighborhood of Las Flores, Boquete, Panama.
My prior post shared the preparation for this event and that the reason for this event was to have a neighborhood celebration for the park renovation, new fence to ensure the safety of the children using the park and a Back to School party! The ultimate reason for the event was to share the abundance of love that Jesus has shown to us. To reach those that do not know this love and who have additional needs that can be met from the blessings we have already received.
Personal invitations hand delivered to each household (over 50), to celebrate and spend time with their neighbors. There were nearly 20 outreach volunteers from http://www.thelibertyproject.tv , Boquete Bible Fellowship and others. But the fantastic part was the 100+ neighbors who attended, bringing food and an interest in seeing their close neighbors at a function that we learned that the scope of which has never occurred here before. We believe it will prompt other gathering of neighbors in the future as well based on the great comments following the event.
The outreach volunteers provided, a clown, face painters, a barbecue, a singer/guitar player, tables, food, and drink and even an ice cream cart….. Did I not mention the PINATA!?! Big Hit at any local fiesta!!! But the greatest of all were the hearts full of love and a desire to serve and bring joy to others.
Another part of this celebration was sharing the reason we all came to this neighborhood; why time, energy and money were brought here to this place… The love Jesus has for his Children no matter where they are on earth.
In advance of this event we had identified 8 children who could use help with their ability to go back to school in a week… Backpacks for each were purchased and filled with the list of their school supplies as well as two sets of required school uniforms, a note of our love for them, and a handmade surprise. Two of these children, brother and sister ages, 8 and 12 respectively are not registered in Panama as having been born. This makes them non-persons, unable to get medical care with their fellow neighbors, nor can they attend school…. They have not attended a day of school and cannot read or write their own language…. We stepped out in faith and purchased their supplies as well and are actively engaged to get the work done to remedy this terrible situation. Two of their siblings are just attending their 2nd and 3rd years of school themselves at the ages of 9 and 10, and we see how difficult it is for them to make this transition being so far behind…
In addition, another group of 20 children have been identified and backpacks full of school supplies will be delivered to another local community by this loving team Sunday!!
We thank those who have done much to help us in our little neighborhood ministry and ask for the continued prayers and if so moved, financial support for our on-going efforts to assist these and other families in meeting their base needs and sharing the gospel of Jesus with them in word and deed.
If you desire to provide financial support you may see the particulars on our “ABOUT” page on how to submit donations to our partner ministry Emmanuel Ministries.
God Bless,
